The shoemakers' shops were placed in the center of the Souk. They were small shops and the bang of hammers on the soles of shoes was heard all over the Souk. The shoemakers excelled in making the oriental slipper (curved at the front) as well as various styles of women's shoes. They collaborated with weavers in order to introduce golden and brocaded fabrics, especially for shoes. Cobblers in Zouk used to supply shoes to all the inhabitants of Keserwan and Bikfaya region
